If he has email, send him an email indicating that you have tried to contact him and left him voicemails on numerous occassions.  Ask him once again to contact you regarding your legal matter.  Give him a deadline by which to reply and tell him that if you don't hear from him by that date, you will terminate his representation of you and you will retain another attorney.  If the latter happens, put a stop payment on your checks and send him a certified letter advising him that you stopped payment and that you are basically firing him.  In the meantime, go talk to another attorney.
