Are there any insurance laws in Alabama regarding scalp hair prosthetics for people who have lost their hair because of cancer treatments?

Question Details:

I work in MA but we are owned by a holding company in AL. Our insurance is BCBS of AL. There is a law in MA that requires coverage of this up to $350 if the insurance company covers any other prosthetics. They are saying that this is not covered in our plan. I have not been able to find out if they cover any other prosthetics.

I'm not a Massachusetts attorney, and I'm not familiar with the law you mentioned which helps you.  If you have the citation for that (a specific reference to the law, to the Massachusetts General Laws, usually abbreviated MGL, with a section number), I'd write a letter to the insurance company with that.  If that doesn't work, talk to a lawyer, or contact your state's insurance department.

As a Massachusetts employee, your health insurance has to conform to Massachusetts law, no matter how or where the policy is written.
