Normally in Ohio, orthodontics are considered a medical expense. Your shared parenting agreement or court orders may handle it differently. However, it would be medical and would fall under the provisions for medical per the law. If you have joint legal custody, both parties would have to agree on braces. They are not always necessary however and could be cosmetic. It depends on the actual diagnosis for the individual child.
