Am I responsible for injuries incurred on a vehicle, that my x-wife has in her possession, but is still titled in my name?

Question Details: My X-wife has a motor scooter in her possession and is hers according to the divorce decree, but is still titled in my name. Earlier this year she canceled insurance on the scooter. this past weekend, during a beer party, another man in his early 20's took out the scooter, drove it recklessly and got hurt. Now my x-wife is trying to make me responsible for all cost even though I have never given anybody permission to ride the bike. can I be held responsible or can I say that the guy stole it?

I am not admitted in Ohio.  Generally the owner of the scooter can be held responsible for what happens with it.  However, you can try and shift responsibility legally because of the divorce decree.

There are many factors here that come in to play:  the 20 year old taking the scooter without permission and driving it recklessly (while drunk), etc.  I would really seek legal consultation in your area to protect yourself against a lawsuit.
