What can I do about an agent orange birth defect?
Question Details:
My father was exposed to a.o. when he was in the marines fighting in Grenada. I have been suffering from bladder issues since I was 15; I turned 25 yesterday. I have not been able to hold a job for more than 2 months because of the amount of time i spend in the ER from the hellish pain that I go through. Yesterday I was informed that my bladder issues are a birth defect of those exposed to the chemical. My mother told me that I should speak with a lawyer about this.
The agent orange exposure to your dad was due to his involvement in the war. You are not going to be able to sue the government for sending your dad to war. Furthermore, the time period for filing such a claim against anyone has expired as you knew about the harm and did nothing or over 20 years - which is way past the statute of limitations. I suggest however, that you hire a lawyer to look into filing for disability as you certainly sound like a good candidate. This will permit you to receive money from the government as opposed to working. You will need to see a doctor to confirm your disability application. However, you should not hesitate here. See a lawyer to help you file the application.
