A reduction in compensation equal to 5 days pay, spread out over 10 weeks.

Question Details: I am a "salaried" employee in Florida. The company I work for wants to implement a 4th quarter cost reduction of "a reduction in compensation equal to 5 days pay, spread out over 10 weeks." Can they do this to a salaried employee? Sounds like they expect me to work for free 1 day per pay period.!?

Unless you have an employment agreement to the contrary, they do this--companies may change pay/wages/salary at will going forward (they can't change it retroactively, for days already worked) and may do either temporily or permanently.
