How a person with no insurance is treated (or not treated)?
Question Details:
A member of my family has been hospitalized for a while the dr\octor told her she has cancer and needs a specific test but wont run it she has no ins?l Is this legal?
It's probably legal, since this test isn't something that is needed for emergency care; a hospital's obligation to treat someone whether they can pay or not is usually limited to what's necessary to keep them alive and get them stable enough for transportation.
Medical care, like housing, food, television sets and everything else, costs money to create, and if you want it you have to have some way of having it paid for. Cases like this are why a political solution of some sort must be found, very soon, whether big business or big insurance likes it or not.
