Question: Auto Accidents - California

A 17 yr old boy was driving for his drunk uncle without a permit or a license and got into an accident. The person in the other car died on the scene.
The drunk uncle who is an adult told the police that he was the one driving. The uncle is being held in custody. What would happen to the minor should he turn himself in? What should he do?

The minor should turn himself in, but should do so with the aid of an attorney.  Also, what will ultimately happen also depends on whether the 17 year old was at fault in the accident.  Just because he was underage, does not mean that the accident was his fault.  More information is needed.
