67what should someone do if a person is telling everyone that he hit her and didn't?

Question Details: My husband was upset with his sister and he got in her face. She pushed him and he pushed her back. I got him to back off and finally got her to leave. Now she is telling the people that she works with that he hit her. The main thing that I'm worried about is that she has a boyfriend that has hit her in the past that hit her and gave her black eyes. She wouldn't have any problem blaming my husband for it because we are at odds over her kids.

I am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law.  There is not a lot you can do.  if the police end up pressing charges you should step up as a witness to the incident so that you can tell the police what really happened.  the husband should not have pushed his sister under any circumstances, but hitting is even worse.  I suggest you let things cool down and remind the sister know that you saw the whole thing and that is the story that will be told to the police should charges get pressed.
