The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) — is the state government agency charged with protecting children and elderly and disabled adults from abuse and neglect.   • 2-1-1 Texas — allows Texans to easily identify health and human services in their local community. Texas residents can call 2-1-1 to speak with an information and referral specialist or they can use the 2-1-1 website to search a database of over 6,000 Texas-wide agencies. 2-1-1 can help you locate a range of local resources ranging from rental assistance to counseling and after-school programs.     TexasOnline — is the official State of Texas website. This government portal provides a wide array of online services and links. To find out about a particular family service or topic, use the online search function, or follow the Health and Family Services (http://www.state.tx.us/category.jsp?language=eng&categoryId=7) link. The site is available in English and Spanish.

    Healthy Texas — is an initiative of the University of Texas Health Science Center (San Antonio) and the Women and Family Information Network. Healthy Texas is committed to improving the health and quality of life of the people of South Texas. The site provides:
  • Basic health information.
  • Health Texas Directory (lists health care people, facilities and services in the 38 counties of South Texas).

The site allows you to search for health care options based on your particular profile (e.g. individual, parent or guardian, small business employer, etc.).
