New York State and Federal Court Resources

Texas Courts Online — is the state’s official portal to the Texas Judicial pages. The site’s many features include:
  • Diagram of the court structure of Texas;
  • Separate pages devoted to Texas appellate courts;
  • Information on Texas judges;
  • TCO Encyclopedia (search for information and links according to topic);
  • An extensive links page;
  • Judicial Directory (search for court locations and details).
  • Texas Courts: A Descriptive Summary — is a useful publication available on the Texas Courts Online website. The publication provides an overview of the Texas court system. A diagram summarizing the structure and jurisdictions of Texas courts is included.
    Supreme Court of Texas — is the court of last resort for civil matters in the State of Texas. The Court’s site features:
  • Clerk’s office information (e.g., filing instructions, etc.);
  • Court and Justices information;
  • Case and Opinion search;
  • Oral argument audio and video;
  • Case Mail function (allows you to track cases and released Opinions).
  • Texas Court of Criminal Appeals — is the State’s highest court for criminal cases. Information available on the site includes:
  • Court Rules & Procedure;
  • Forms;
  • Opinion archives dating back to 1998;
  • Opinion and case search function.

  • Texas Courts of Appeals — hear civil and criminal cases appealed from district or county courts. Texas has fourteen Courts of Appeals: Houston, Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, Texarkana, Amarillo, El Paso, Beaumont, Waco, Eastland, Tyler, Corpus Christi & Edinburg, and Houston. The website provides a map of the area covered by each Court of Appeals, and links to individual Court web pages
    District Courts — are the courts of general jurisdiction in the State of Texas. Each county is served by at least one district court. Use this helpful website to access a map of current district courts and district court addresses and websites. To locate the district court(s) in your county, follow the County Websites link.
    Texas’ Find a Court website (called the Texas Judicial System Directory) — provides court addresses, phone numbers, and websites. The search function is easy to use, allowing you to select the Court type, County and City from a drop-down menu.
    U.S. District Court – Eastern District of Texas — serves 6 divisions: Beaumont, Lufkin, Marshall, Sherman, Texarkana and Tyler. The Court website features:
  • Discovery Hotline information;
  • Forms (including forms for pro se litigants);
  • FAQs divided according to topic: Jury FAQs; Attorney FAQs; Records FAQs; Summons & Subpoenas FAQs;
  • E-filing instructions;
  • Links, including link to Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

  • U.S. District Court – Northern District of Texas — serves the divisions of Abilene, Amarillo, Dallas, Fort Worth, Lubbock, San Angelo and Wichita Falls. Useful features of the Court website include:
  • Publications (e.g., Alternative Dispute Resolution Booklet, Attorney & Pro Se Handbook;
  • Local, federal and appellate rules of court;
  • Jury information;
  • FAQs.
  • U.S. District Court – Southern District of Texas — serves the following divisions: Brownsville, Houston, Victoria, Corpus Christi, Laredo, Galveston and McAllen. Site information includes:

  • Guide for litigants without lawyers (pro se);
  • Link to Notable Cases;

  • U.S District Court – Western District of Texas — serves 7 divisions: Austin, Del Rio, El Paso, Midland-Odessa, Pecos, San Antonio and Waco. This site is very easy to navigate and filled with useful information. The site features:

  • Extensive Jury information;
  • Publications;
  • Rules;
