Texas Adoption Resource Exchange (TARE) — brings together children with special needs and families who are willing to adopt them. Children registered with TARE are in the conservatorship of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS). Information available on the TARE website includes:

  • The Department of State Health Services, Texas Vital Statistics — provides information about how to obtain your original birth certificate if you are an adult adoptee who was born in Texas. Frequently asked questions about birth certificates and adoption records are addressed on this site.
    Free Advice Adoption Law Center — provides a wealth of adoption-related legal information in an easy-to-understand question and answer format. Topics range from the legal definition of adoption to international adoption and adoption agencies.

    Texas Young Lawyers Association — is described as the public service arm of the State Bar of Texas, providing public legal education services to Texans. The Association provides information on legal issues facing families.
