Texas Attorney General — is described as the lawyer for the people of Texas. The Office of the Attorney General performs a number of key functions, including:
Child Support enforcement (seeChild Support Services);
Consumer Protection (including the handling of Consumer Complaints and publication of Consumer Protection Brochures and Alerts);
Enforcement of health, safety and consumer regulations;
Crime Victim Services, including administering the Crime Victims’ Compensation Fund;

Protecting and prosecuting Internet or cyber crimes;
Providing resources for law enforcement (including Fugitives databases);
Investigating Medicaid fraud.
