Californis Bankruptcy — Bankruptcy is the process that can either clear many debts, giving you a fresh start, or allows you to pay off your debts over a longer period of time than you typically have without a bankruptcy plan. Bankruptcy requires the involvement of federal courts. In California, there are four courts overseeing bankruptcy. The proper court depends on where you live.
U.S. Bankruptcy Court – Northern District of California — serves the residents of 15 counties, including communities in Northern California, the Bay Area, San Jose, and Monterey. Divisions are based in Santa Rosa, San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose. Information and services available on the court website include:

U.S. Bankruptcy Court – Central District of California — proclaims it is the largest bankruptcy Court in the United States. The district serves the counties of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Santa Barbara, Ventura, and San Luis Obispo. Courts are located in Los Angeles, Riverside, Santa Ana, Santa Barbara, and the San Fernando Valley. The court’s website features:
