New York State Public Records Resource

New York State Department of Health--Vital Records — holds records for births, deaths, marriage and divorces outside of New York City. Non-certified records are available to help with genealogical research, and a voluntary adoption registry is also available. The site has links to downloadable forms.
New York City Office of Vital Records — issues copies and corrects birth and death certificates for births and deaths within the five boroughs. The helpful website has forms, instructions, and a compilation of popular baby names.
New York City Marriage Bureau — helps residents obtain a marriage license or record, register a domestic partnership, or request a marriage ceremony at City Hall.
New York State Sex Offender Registry — helps locate sex offenders who may be living in your neighborhood. Offenders are classified by the risk of re-offense, and whether they are a sexual predator or sexually violent offender. The public may use the site, a hotline or a local police station to check the approximate address of sex offenders. Topics on the website include:
